When people say they add cream to their coffee, do they actually just mean milk? What is cream?
-
Embed this notice
It's milk fat, cream is for fat ppl.

@eidolon @RustyCrab we've had this conversation before on the federated network, half and half doesn't exist in Australia and cream in coffee isn't a thing

@RustyCrab I've never seen this before @cassidyclown have you?

@RustyCrab what's that

@eidolon ... how do you not know what half & half is? Its half milk half heavy cream (milk fat)
-
Embed this notice
@eidolon half & half

@eidolon @RustyCrab (I was also very confused and everyone bullied me for not understanding cream)
-

Because putting fat in a drink is disgusting maybe?
-
Embed this notice
@cassidyclown @eidolon despite half and half being half cream and half milk, putting straight heavy cream in coffee does not taste very good and I'm unsure why

@cassidyclown @eidolon wtf do you just put sugar?
Starbucks has to exist in Australia surely they use it
-
Embed this notice
@RustyCrab @eidolon I put milk and sugar. Once I did put thickened cream in because I was out of milk and desperate and it didn't seem like that was something that I was supposed to do.

@eidolon @bot @cassidyclown fat in a drink won't hurt you (or make you fat) but sugar very much will

They boil their weird hot dog meat, at least grill it ffs.

@RustyCrab @bot @cassidyclown yeah I agree about the sugar was more thinking about idk the texture and flavour, I'd have thought cream would ruin it

@eidolon @RustyCrab @cassidyclown @bot you guys know you can just
drink the coffee
without diluting it. That's an option that's always existed.

@cassidyclown @RustyCrab @eidolon @bot fortunately for you entropy still rules and the coffee will, over a short period of time, diffuse its heat energy into the surrounding environment, with no additional user input required.

@prettygood @RustyCrab @eidolon @bot do people actually wait for their coffee to cool down

That's incorrect.

@bot @RustyCrab @cassidyclown @eidolon it really won't tbh. Did you know that butter has properties that assist with weight loss? Its just that salted butter is so common, the salt makes you hold more water and in turn not actually lose weight

@RustyCrab @trump @binkle @eidolon The worst thing about corn syrup invasion is that there's a sweetness to everything, and without unreasonable amounts of extra sugar people think stuff tastes bad. Coffee mate is disgusting, and boomers will look at me like I'm a psycho for wanting whole milk in my coffee. It's hard to find half and half or cream, as was mentioned.

@binkle @eidolon @trump what "zero sugar" means in the US :niggavoid:

@eidolon @trump don't worry there's also a zero sugar version

@eidolon depends. could mean a few things. half&half is common, or other milk cream things, or if they're an american, they have these "non dairy creamer" there that are like, basically a syrup and copious amounts of corn syrup and fucking disgusting diabetes in a bottle and they fill like half theyre fucking cup with the shit i hate it so much, nobody ever uses real cream there for it btw even milk in coffee is rare

@bot @cassidyclown @creamqueen @eidolon to lose weight you decrease your carb intake and increase your healthy fat intake. This is uncontroversial.

They may work well because fat is satiating and carbs aren't, and actually tracking food intake is a huge shift for some ppl. I can tell you that most ppl that do "keto" actually aren't doing keto.
-

@bot @RustyCrab @cassidyclown @creamqueen @eidolon atkins and keto diets (dramatic decrease in carbs, increase in fat and protein sources) do work quite well. I've known a number of people who have lost weight on them (usually they stop after they hit their target weight because it's hard to be "normal" as an american with a diet like that)

@bot @RustyCrab @cassidyclown @creamqueen @eidolon agreed. I think there are certain metabolic changes that occur, assuming you've been doing it correctly for a bit, but a lot of people never get there because they aren't. Actually doing keto is really hard if you're keeping to the 10-15g carbs per day and also making sure the fat/protein ratio is correct. I think that's why most people wind up doing atkins where the carb limit is increased.
I tried it for a bit back in the day and wound up eating a lot of "space food" where all the sweeteners were things the human body can't actually process like erythritol (really bad idea btw don't do that your bowels will never recover from your betrayal)

@binkle @RustyCrab @cassidyclown @creamqueen @eidolon @bot I've had a hard time explaining keto to a friend a while back, he kept thinking it's just another fad diet. It's actually incredible how much the body changes over a relatively short time when done strictly.
I don't even like the taste of fries anymore, stopped doing keto about a year ago
