It makes no sense, there's no reason a giant bomb would allow you to do any of that, and it doesn't even make sense what a hybrid AI/ biological life would be. But judging by how it was written, Synthesis was what they were going for because tikkun olam, but most fans chose destroy because it was the only one that made any sense. It completely wrecked the series, and you were better off stopping at 2 (though admittedly 3 was the most polished gameplay).

If I was writing a new setting for a story I'd make an AI controlled army of libtards as one of my factions, because it would be hilarious. Make everything have an iPhone aesthetic, make everyone look like an ambiguously gay mystery meat hipster, and have the AI use them like completely disposable cannon fodder.
