This is the essential foundation of the neo-Strasserites and "MAGA Communist" scams attempting to tether Left economics to "culture war" Right social dynamics. See Robert Kennedy Jr.'s entire campaign, the "Truckers' Convoy" mess, the mining of antivaxx "CovidTrutherism" as an "anticorporate" wedge to sell John Birchite social snake oil and Ivermectin, the whole anti "Woke" backlash, etc., etc., ad nauseum.

Of course, there has always been a history of Leftist Puritanism that has dismissed liberatory social/sexual programs as as best "distractions" and as worst cosmic threats to their own reeducation programs; and it's not surprising in any way that that degree of puritanism is still quite active amongst even the seemingly most liberal folk.
There's nothing that says that even outright liberals or "libertarians" can't slut shame or scapegoat transgender folk for going after their privileges.

@AnthonyJK it is actually very fucking annoying, as new as I am to Leftism as my jams and ecosystem to work within, that there is this "well they flirted with us once or twice so we can totally get them to be Leftists who carry the banner into the breach alongside us" while not observing how they, themselves, are straying further and further towards mainline crankery, from a self professed Leftist position.

@AnthonyJK One of the foundational problems to Leftism as desperate and disheveled as it is, is that basically any mainline crank who pays lip service to Leftist concepts is given laurels and chances to become kind of an avatar of Leftism that draws more into the fold even if we can plainly see from a staunch position, no, theyre playing their own game for themselves.

There is a distinct lack of organizational and functional discipline among the Left because there are no real functional standards on what constitutes being a Leftist both on cultural AND economic issues.
From New Deal liberal to SocDem to DemSoc to MLM to anarchosyndicalist to Maoist....anyone can claim or deny the "Leftist" label and attach it to their pet single issue without any sense of intersectionality or connectiveness. Chaos thusly ensues.

Yeah, about that....
I get PC's attempt to broaden the paradigm definitions of ideologies, but they still miss a lot because they don't include the z-axis of depth.
Also, they ignore that "authoritarianism" can be exploited by elites of any ideology for maintaining power, but what makes it right-wing is its relationship to positions of power and privilege. You can be a "libertarian" and still use the power of government to maintain your position of power.

Political compass does rub me the wrong way; but I completely understand why people try to specify as a mean to learn someone's certain aspect of their identity, although at the sametime so many try to put everyone in a box as if we are on the "same" team when in reality we simply just don't.
Like the whole anarchists/tankies unity shit; which ALWAYS backfires.

I think part of this specific dynamic is some kind of larger human imperative to feel belonging through whatever means validates that sense.
Like the political compass thing puts you in a ballpark but isnt the end all be all - yet its kind of this vapid shorthand tool for belonging people use to ICQ others, who might be in the ballpark.
I might take it too far to my own detriment but I really dont feel a sense of belonging unless its explicitly said and acted upon and shown, but at least it keeps me away from some predicaments and strife.
