Of course, there has always been a history of Leftist Puritanism that has dismissed liberatory social/sexual programs as as best "distractions" and as worst cosmic threats to their own reeducation programs; and it's not surprising in any way that that degree of puritanism is still quite active amongst even the seemingly most liberal folk.

There's nothing that says that even outright liberals or "libertarians" can't slut shame or scapegoat transgender folk for going after their privileges.
