I think part of this specific dynamic is some kind of larger human imperative to feel belonging through whatever means validates that sense.

Like the political compass thing puts you in a ballpark but isnt the end all be all - yet its kind of this vapid shorthand tool for belonging people use to ICQ others, who might be in the ballpark.

I might take it too far to my own detriment but I really dont feel a sense of belonging unless its explicitly said and acted upon and shown, but at least it keeps me away from some predicaments and strife.
