Yesssss
Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online Season 2 has been announced
Do not mix this with normal SAO. Different writer and this doesn't have Kirito and friends. S1 was fucking glorious

@coolboymew Fukaziroh gets the dub rewrite treatment, the metric to imperial conversions are fucked up.

@Elliptica Shinon is still my fav mainline SAO girl

@Elliptica I wasn't sure if I wanted to pick it up that season, so I did late and I absolutely couldn't stop watching until I caught up

@coolboymew Yeah, I didn't pick it up till much later (like years). The first season of SAO was paced poorly, and the second season lost me at the start with "I'm not a girl tee hee" Kirito. It bugged me because I felt like the secondary character from that season, Shinon, really deserved to have her own story. She was interesting enough and did not need a Mary-Sue to carry her, or to hog the spotlight. This other series felt like it fixed that somewhat.

@coolboymew I really liked that series. A bit too melodramatically, and the series still has a huge problem with there being too many girls (despite being told there are so few of them playing these games), but it's still leagues ahead of almost all other anime set in a video game.

@coolboymew @Nelenese Would agree that said I feel like SAO 1 part 1 ending is quite a letdown, it feels like what you'd get in an otherwise good adaptation that had to suddenly cut the story short. Part 2… would have been fun without the rapey NTR.
SAO 2 I should rewatch because I forgot way too much, like I forgot what happened to Death Gun, but I remember that Sinon is great.
The one I would heavily dis-recommend / hate is Alicization specially season 2 "War of Underworld", season 1 is filler-ish, season 2 is just horrible like embracing S1's "deus ex machina" of Kirito. (And I forgot most of the prequel movie, IIRC it was okay/fun)
GGO on the other end? It's great and I would recommend it, I'm quite hyped for the season 2 of it.

@coolboymew sao was so hated that there was a small niche on ragging on every part of it, so i thought it would be the same but with a loli mc

@Nelenese it isn't at all
SAO is really overhated, other than the terrible part 2 of S1, it's quite alright
But this, THIS is amazing

>Would agree that said I feel like SAO 1 part 1 ending is quite a letdown, it feels like what you'd get in an otherwise good adaptation that had to suddenly cut the story short.
It DID however. The first novel was submitted to a competition that had a word limit, that's why
>Part 2… would have been fun without the rapey NTR.
Everyone hated the villain. The game parts were fun but the villain was amazingly shitty

That's weird because I heard the contrary usually from people who don't like the series
I have yet to watch it, oddly enough
>GGO on the other end? It's great and I would recommend it, I'm quite hyped for the season 2 of it.
I can't wait

@lanodan @coolboymew can you believe that most people's first anime had a virutal rape scene :deadinside:

@coolboymew @Nelenese And I guess they didn't change the ending of the novel?
Kind of surprising for something that gets a *full* season adaptation, it makes me wonder if the novel author put his foot down or something to keep things as they are.
> That's weird because I heard the contrary usually from people who don't like the series
That's kind of interesting because I would more expect people who liked Kirito, specially in SAO 1 to also like Alicization because they'd likely also tolerate/accept the massive deus-ex part of it, making it a good show for them.

That's what the new novels are supposed to be, a fuller Aincrad arc, however they fucked it up and made it a movie series, which skips loads of details, hurr

@Kerosene @coolboymew @Nelenese The reason they couldn't fly to Mordor was so obvious to the characters that it didn't even merit mentioning. Feel free to speculate on that reason if you wish though.

@ForbiddenDreamer @Kerosene @coolboymew @Nelenese also i mean, there are in universe reasons why they simple couldn't that if thought through even for a little while, but i mean the obvious real reason is cuz there's no story that way, but it can still be jsutified beucase hte world building is so good, that they couldn't ahve gotten away with doing it from, the eagles aren't anyone but manwe's servants, to they'd be spotted and ring wraithed etc etc.

@coolboymew @Nelenese The way you explain it reminds me of the people who constantly say things like "Why didn't they just fly to Mordor on the eagles?". If they are so intelligent they should be able to understand that fun things are fun.

@Nelenese I have noticed there's some level of media watchers who are an absolute plague on any fandom. They can't enjoy some dumb shit for its own sake. I call them explainfags, they're the kind of people who will constantly unironically ask something along the line of "Why can't Megaman teleport directly to the boss room?", they can't understand decisions for the sake of the plot, they can't understand that writer didn't do x because that's currently the fucking genre, they pay terrible little attention and keep asking questions dumber than the show, etc
