     1. infosec.exchange has put false blocks on their blocklist (including mine) which took weeks to get removed
     2. Centralized moderation on a decentralized platform is always a bad idea
     3. It should be opt in, NOT opt out. Many instances admins don't even have the ability to customize robots.txt, or may want it on for other purposes but not want to be scraped by this "tool".

     @thatonecalculator it respects robots.txt and could be useful for smaller instances to sync blocklists from some of the bigger, well moderated instances, like infosec.exchange.

     @thatonecalculator@stop.voring.me @jcrabapple@dmv.community If you want to synchronize blocklists, just use the blocklist API from the target instance. No need for a crawler for the entire fediverse.

     fba just told you who a server was blocked by - that info has a legit use case when you want to find an instance that federates with the accounts you want to follow

     federater is a scraper set up to be a reputation algorithm and isn't good for anything else
