@tokyo_0 I've read that. It doesn't make a very good point. I've heard all the opinions and none of them seem to make any sense. Mostly wild hyperbole and speculation.

If this place gets "destroyed" because of federating with a website using the very protocols it was designed to connect with, then it was never meant to be in the first place.

I think the best path forward with Threads is not to defederate the whole thing, cutting off access to 10s of thousands of average well-meaning people, and instead defederate the rule-breaking, policy-violating accounts directly.

@crossgolf_rebel @tchambers @fediversenews well it can be both. But I don't think it's as dangerous as some people think. This place was built to withstand.

Remember, if your Mastodon instance plans to defederate/block Threads and you don't agree with this, kindly reach out to your admin and ask that they reconsider.

If they won't budge, you can always migrate to another instance. If you're in the #DMV area and want to move to my instance, we'd love to have you. I'm leaving it up to individual users to block Threads if they want.

Speaking of dogs again, why do my dogs do this: they lay in my basement office with the door open so they can get upstairs anytime they want. It's not like they're locked in down there, but as soon as my chair moves they jump up and run upstairs as if they're finally free or something.

@CliffWade I don't have any issues with notifications with the Mastodon app or Megalodon or Moshidon (though they both have an annoying timeline loading issue), but they're both based on the Mastodon app not Tusky.

Tusky and Yuito which is based on Tusky, both have delayed notifications.

Also Fedilab, using either Google notifications or ntfy.
