From a Vic20 and my friend’s TRS-80 to my first internet connection back in 91 managing a computer lab at USF in Tampa. Tis twas a different time. Decentralized is simply “rejoining” the internet the way it was (and probably should’ve stayed). Biggest regret was centralizing information to social media companies.

Well this will end poorly.

The real issue is the bullshit "billionaire proof" & claims of decentralization, which Bluesky is neither.

@grishka @cwebber as I understand it, if Turkey shuts down the main Bluesky instance, bsky.social, if I had my own "instance", it would go black as well.

Here, if you shut down mastodon.social, mstdn.social keeps on trucking.

Microblogging peaked when Tumblr peaked. I'm surprised no one has made an app that adjusted the #Mastodon feed to look more like #Tumblr (content ABOVE the caption, + text only posts, reblog comments BELOW original content, etc).

I saw @dansup was heading that direction in OG #pixelfed days years back, but more #Instagram style later.

But yo, #Fediverse - what do you think? Do you miss peak Tumblr? Am I crazy?

There’s an irony that an #Instagram account that “makes cool AI art”, a thing that steals from other artists, is complaining about an AI video maker stealing from them “without consent”.
