24% of Fox viewers think that the tariffs will either result in lower prices in the grocery store, or no difference.
While many of those still have some vague notion that the foreign producer pays the tariff, others think the grocery store will eat the tariff.
I am just here to remind everyone that on average, grocery stores make a 1.6% margin on what they sell, and sure as shit don't have the ability to eat a 10-40% additional cost.
@inthehands
I was involved in a sizable migration of legacy ERP software from COBOL to 5th gen business objects, and yes, although you can do a LOT with wrapping COBOL, the idea of tossing complex and mission-critical code into an AI and expecting anything but a troubleshooting nightmare, is a nightmare
@mwyman
Dunno
I have seen this kind of wild-eyed ignoramus enthusiasm before in people who have cult-like leadership by people who are imperious and make sweeping changes, but are as immune or unaware of consequences as they are ignorant of the actual technology involved.
It is actually quite common among venture capital and private equity crews
@GottaLaff @earthlingusa
I thought I was done, but apparently I want to say more here :)
This performative backslapping emoji stuff is of a piece with the slapdash OPSEC. The childish posturing of posting emojis in a deliberation about deadly consequences is tied to the mindset, lack of discipline, and focus on appearances rather than substance. These are deeply unserious and unsuitable people who can't maintain the discipline and rigor of the job, and default to playacting
@GottaLaff
1. Inadvertent to the point of reckless
2. Held on unapproved private platform (Signal)
3. Not held in a secure location like a SCIF
4. Just sloppy and slapdash discussion with an absurd tone, like wtf 💪 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 . What adult uses EMOJIS in an official di9scussion about bombing someone?
5. SET TO AUTODELETE in total contravention of records act
Hey you folks who just couldn't vote blue because of Gaza, have you learned your lesson now, or are you going to fall for disinformation and active measures tricks again next time?
I want to tell you that every time the ceasefire is violated, more places get bombed, or more news comes out about removing the people and creating a "Riviera", I think of you guys. I think of how this didn't need to happen and how, but for you, things could have been better
@dalias
Are you thinking a checklist procedure, or having a detector interlock in the MRI machine that prevents coil activation in the presence of ferrous objects?
@StillIRise1963
Long term effects are going to be monstrous, and a lot of this damage may be irreparable
@unclesam
A little Murc's Law going on there bud?
@unclesam
Suit yourself, tosser
Murc all the way

@dj
LOL
You say that as though virtue signaling is a bad thing
@dj
I would advise you to stop referring to whatever source you used to get that load of womble poo.
Virtue signaling is an inherent part of human society and in the socialization and formation of groups. The fact that it is *sometimes* less beneficial in no way changes a simple fact that all of us virtue signal and echo virtue signaling almost constantly. It is used to communicate "these are the things we believe as a group" and "I am complying with the social norms"
So yes, of course I am
@dj
Ah ... so you switch to personal insults. Cool, I like the exchange of amusing insults.
Firstly, you broken pencil, I write both fiction and non-fiction, and my fiction is used to "virtue signal" everything from medical and industrial quality & safety, to social hazards. Dismissing what I said because I *also* write fiction in addition to research results and methodology, is dumb.
Secondly, having pronouns is a good thing. It underlines a social hazard.
Lastly, you are a boring twat
@skinnylatte
wait, you smelled something in a dream?
When my mother was pregnant with me, she got bad morning sickness. A friend who traveled regularly from Germany offered her this new amazing drug.
It was made by Chemie Grünenthal, under the brand name Contergan. She refused it, because it was not licensed in our country.
That was a somewhat fortuitous decision because that drug later became rather famous under the brand name of Thalidomide

The future in perspectives.
My furry friends from Kollectiva and I agree on many things, but not on what a future would be like if there was a revolution that overturned Capitalism.
Their view: Happy people living free and using barter and cryptocurrencies for getting their eggs and avocados. Everyone is smiling, and lives a long and fruitful life
My view: Miserable people eking out a bare existence in the ruins, and selling body parts to rich people to buy basics. Everyone is sick and dying
