Given that misinformation and targeted ads on Facebook have been in no small part the reason why Brexit happened, Trump got in twice and why your auntie Susan thinks chemtrails in tap water turned your sister gay, will the dissolution of their fact checking dept really make much of a difference?

I don't even have an account over there so not my circus but it seems to me that ship already sailed.

@dalias @josh0 If a tech sector crash does occur, it won't just be people who work in tech are affected, it would cause a global recession. I lost two jobs to a combination of Brexit and Covid. I was on the "right side" of both.

@dalias @josh0 I don't necessarily disagree, it's just that a lot of good people are going to get hurt at the same time. I'm also not sure if what comes after will necessarily be better.

@dalias @josh0 It sounds good but Google crashing suddenly would likely decimate the tech sector. I suspect that AI will anyway in the medium term - unless they magically find a way to make it profitable but something like that would be disastrous for people's jobs and not just at Google.

@josh0 Google's search is its #1 product. What happens when they break it completely - when *no-one* trusts it and they're up to their eyeballs in debt? This rush to AI could kill them.

@lowqualityfacts I would use that every day. Is that an affiliate link? I feel better buying from Amazon if you're getting a low quality kickback.

@fesshole Gonna convince my kid that a 'Goat-see' is a mythical kind fawn-like creature that can see into the future and it would make such a great tattoo.

@indivisibleteam Trump's a convicted felon and rapist and won the presidency. Even if the report is released or leaked, the GOP will barely shrug. Fox won't even report it. Their voters either won't be made aware of its contents by their Facebook feeds or will simply ignore it.

@liztai I cry at everything - drama, Disney movies, some commercials. And almost *always* at live music. I also laugh out loud even when on my own to comedy - especially standup.

I cannot watch horror movies. Body horror literally keeps me up at night.

Not sure what that says about me, either. 😆
