Had a lovely Xmas complete with far too much food and presents and an adorable toddler. I’ve eaten so many cookies that I’ve probably developed diabetes in one day. We just hung out, giggled, watched Beyoncé’s half time show (one kid is a major fan), played with baby, watched Barbie (for at least the fifth time), and were generally merry. Hope your holiday was lovely. Happy Chrismakuh!
tomorrow I put away my computer and attempt to not go online for a week (except to play spelling bee, connections, and wordle because I'm not.a masochist). Wish me luck. Family arrives on Monday. All hell breaks loose on Tuesday. Sugar coma begins on Wednesday.
Hello world. My fellow Americans: Happy We Stole Your Land and Then Ate Turkey, day. We're going to Boston to not eat turkey with our daughter and wife and kid who have a vegetarian home. Just side dishes - which of course, is the best part, aside from dessert.
I'd thank my father for his service on this veterans day, but he was 4-f. Seriously. He tried to enlist on Pearl Harbor day- my mom was at home with my newborn sister praying that he wouldn't get accepted by any branch- and he didn't. He had a messed up ear from swimming competitively, a wife and kid, was a public school teacher, and they told him he could better serve his country at home, He volunteered at the ship yards in Newark, IIRC. If he'd gone it's likely I wouldn't be typing this now. Happy Veterans Day and thanks to those who served, and those who kept the home fires burning.
My New Yorker daughter was quite annoyed that Beyoncé did not perform at the Harris rally. My New Yorker daughter's musical tastes consist of basically hardcore punk and Beyoncé. An interesting combo, to be sure- but then, she's an interesting human. I miss her. Haven't seen her since late August which seems like far too long.
