@mastodonmigration.wordpress.com Follow packs are great, but here's an important note on the instructions. See the red-highlighted line? If you're importing more than one follow pack, YOU HAVE TO DO THAT LINE EACH TIME. Because after an upload, it defaults back to Following List, which you do not want.
@jwz@docpop@foon My interpretation of the Valencia center-running bike lanes is that it solved one issue - drivers parking in the bike lane - and made a bunch of other things worse, such as illegal turns across the bike lane.
This is actually a general theme in all fields of engineering. How many times have you seen some folks go "Email sucks because of this one thing. I will make an email replacement which fixes that one thing!" and makes a bunch of other things worse. Over and over.
@mekkaokereke Yeah that's a good point. Xexit demonstrates that social media users are highly mobile. Anyone wanting to enshittify Bluesky should think about that.
The SF weather forecast says the rain will end around noon and there will be at least some sun, so I'm declaring a Rainbow Watch.
A Rainbow Watch means that rainbows are possible in and near the watch area. Be ready to act quickly if a warning is issued or you suspect a rainbow is approaching.
The New York Central railroad noticed some people were riding every day, so they offered special fares - unlimited rides in a given period. These were called commutation fares - the fare was commuted, not the rider. It just meant lower than usual. But soon the riders were called commuters, and then the railroads themselves. Eventually the word was used for driving too.
@jwz Right wingnuts accusing leftists of uniformity of opinion: have they ever met any leftists?? Just because we all agree on one thing - NAZI PUNKS FUCK OFF - doesn't make us echoers.
@mattblaze I wanted to stay in bed too but when I got up anyway and stepped out to get the newspaper, this little lady was waiting for me and suddenly decided I was no longer scary and I should rub her belly. So it was actually a pretty good day, overall.
When I run across a web page that is broken by "modern" webdev and adtech, the first thing I try is turning off JavaScript and that almost always fixes it.
Web sites running JavaScript in my browser is a privilege, not a right.
