When you write "commercially” you mean “proprietary”. Because FLOSS can always be utilised for _all_ cause, including commercial ones and selling it. This is what e.g sets it apart from pretending licenses like the BSL which want to claim all commercial activities just for a single stakeholder.

@jwildeboer How's the Linux driver support though? That's one of the few traits of HP printers. Hplip is FLOSS works well, and is kept up to date.

When trying to run an old Brother printer I recall only finding proprietary 32bit drivers for it. Has that improved by now?

@evan There are Fediverse implementations working on having a Circles-like sending control feature, like @bonfire. But nothing stable I know of so far.

So far I'm kind of boycotting Patreon, as I do not like the cut they're taking (especially from EU citizens) and the approach of coupling rewards to financial support.
However, :mastodon: has stopped supporting #Liberapay donations for quite a while.

Should I go with #OpenCollective or with #Patreon for supporting mastodev?

Getting a Patreon account would mean suddenly *being able* (and thus morally having) to support a bunch of podcasts that didn't take bank transfers /0\

@rysiek /me is hosting his own instance. But I could support struggling smaller instances, indeed.

Overall, I'd like to see the development of :mastodon: continue though, and would like to make it possible for contributions to sustainable. Thus the focus on the software, not the operations and hosting.
