@chris @funnymonkey I can tell you that they were used by both of my kids that went to college for their college work, as well.

I also know that quite a few people that just need any computer buy them and use them, because they're extremely inexpensive compared to Windows or Mac machines (or even iPads, for that matter).

If you don't *need* Windows or Mac software, you most likely buy a Chromebook, unless you're a techie.

Whoops. Went to pay our personal property taxes today so I could renew my vehicle registration before Thursday, and realized that her vehicle registration expired in October. Not sure how we missed that.

Also, WV sucks. It cost $105 to renew her registration for 2 years for her Kia Soul. It cost $535 to renew mine for 2 years for my Niro EV. They are charging more than 5 times as much for electric vehicles than traditional internal combustion vehicles.

Medicare Advantage plans this year be like "oh, you want actual help with vision, dental and drug coverage? Sorry, you're going to have to choose 1 of the 3. For the others, you're on your own"

Our choices right now look kind of like:
1 - drug cost ~$600 for the year, but glasses aren't covered and dental work* is not covered
2 - drug cost ~$1100, eyeglasses are covered, but dental work* not
3 - drug cost ~$1500, dental work is covered, glasses aren't

* - other than cleaning

@chris @redcrew here in WV, for property taxes, they send you a paper once a year showing what you said you owned the last time. You have to fill out that paper and mail it back to them. If you don't, or they didn't receive/process it, they don't know how much you owe. Then, you have to go to their physical office and tell them what you owned for that year (which is usually 2-3 years ago) so they can figure out what taxes you owe (and tack on a penalty for not paying on time)

@chris many of them, yes. I'm so grateful we have a salesman that we know we can trust, but I know he's going to be retiring sooner or later (he wasn't young when we started going to him almost 30 years ago).

Even if we're not buying a car from him, we still consult him before we buy a car from someone else, and he always helps, because he knows we'll come back to him at some point.

@chris if the lease agreement is anything like the one my mom got on her plug-in Sportage hybrid, it can't be beat.

@chris *knocks on wood* so far, our Eero has been absolutely fantastic, but, I also fully recognize the fact that Amazon might have access to everything I do.

@chris I hate when that's the "answer" to router issues. Why do they not bother to tell you how many devices it can support or ask you how many devices you're going to be connecting when you buy it/get it?

Why do they make routers for modern homes that still max out at 10-15 devices?

I'm sure I'll get used to it, and it's still a heck of a lot better than the "design upgrades" coming to iOS, but I'm not currently a huge fan of the new design elements of Android.

Has anyone else noticed that the wasps and hornets are completely out of control this year?

I have my old gas grill sitting on the patio; they made a huge nest in there. We blasted it out with water last week, and they rebuilt the next day. I have an old canister smoker on the patio, and they built a big nest there. We have a metal railing on the porch, and they figured out how to build nests inside each of the posts.

When we opened our pool, there was a big nest in the pool ladder.

They're building nests anywhere and everywhere they can this year, and taking over our outdoor spaces

@WarnerCrocker it seems weird for the president of the US just to surrender unconditionally without any context. :P

Dear Google: please, instead of just blocking a particular number when I report a call as spam or scam, start cataloging the content of those voice messages (I know you're listening anyway; you have to in order to transcribe them) and automatically delete any more messages I get with the same content.

This is like blocking an individual IP or email address, rather than blocking suspicious-looking links on your website.

It's like whack-a-mole, except it's not fun.

@chris it makes me so angry and sad that he turned out the way he did. I love his acting, but he is a garbage human being.
