I focus on CLA because most projects use a license with at least a patent waiver and startups using rights-ratchet usually want to retain full patent leverage for their VCs so don't want to be subject to the license themselves. But in this case I don't think Redis started out as a rights-ratchet

It's good that the European Union is advancing a balanced and necessary proposal to bring transparency to standard-essential patents. #Standards are rightly seen as a way to interoperability, but many people are unaware that an industry has been built around monetising patents that have been allowed to become embedded in those standards.

With that in mind, we have made some positive suggestions to improve the regulation.

I would have more patience for the argument that #OpenSource is dead were it not for the fact the people making the argument are benefiting from huge quantities of the stuff and would rather their customers didn't benefit the same #SoftwareFreedom

#Wikipedia is fighting a #SLAPP suit in Portugal where the appeals court seems so keen to rule for the rich plaintiff that it is filling in the arguments he forgot to make!
