Every thought is somehow "from scratch".

In the sense that memory is really re-living an event, literally creating a forgery of an original event.

Thought is constructed "anew" each time. Every axiom is relived every time. There is no real axiom.

Reality is just folds in sheets and every time we add extra meaning to that reality we are pulling the folds up in the sheets again and making mountains out of them.

(an example of "extra meaning" is good and evil)

I don't mean any of this to ...

Me: Can I access your podcast/research directly or w/o needing to login to something third party?

Them: You can create the account for free.

Me: We don't share the same definition of "free". <sad-face-emoji>

There's something about how economics is a soft science that really bottoms out in social psychology.

Well can't we just start with the socially psychology part?

Why does economics capture all of the attention and interest?

Oh right because in capitalism you have to first add money to a thing to make it worthwhile.

For me this is one of the applications of "no gods no masters".

So often the person who does a good deed is elevated above the deed itself.

After the cult of personality falls then the damage is that the good deeds might fall with it.

If you "no gods no masters" ahead of time then this won't happen.

I didn't know about Assange being a bad actor, but I already separated the artist from the artist, and I already don't want anybody in jail.

@nytpu hmm bicycles is a missed opportunity in those shows/movies. They would last until tires (and all spare tires) dry rotted. Everything else to maintain them is at hardware stores.

@seachanger This is happening to me right now. :(

(losing shared values with my friends.)

It's like life gets hard then that's the excuse to give up on being a moral person. In my mind that's the only real test of being a moral person. (to not give up when it gets hard)

@AnthonyJK @strypey I also see the contradiction in that outlook, but I'm still mulling it over. For example I don't tolerate conservative people in my day to day life. Or on the internets.

(another thing I think of is like when Bernie went on Fox news. Which i respected a lot.)

@AnthonyJK @strypey I read that differently than you did.

This made me think of how I've read in Jane McAlevy's books that in union solidarity you have to focus on the fight and your allies in *that* fight.

Which means in union issues specifically you can't "turn away" people based on political view. You can't get to 90% or whatever majority you need by excluding people.

    @rat @screwtape that's not TDD?
You update your tests first to fail, and then write your different code after to pass.

I'm not a fan of TDD except for opt-in voluntary use of it for things like business logic in code. Or when you are writing code with very precise requirements spelled out ahead of time.

I think the cult of TDD is a cult. But the practice of it can be useful as a tool.
