I think the most kickass feature any IDE could have would be wizard that does "analyze code in these assemblies and change the IDE's code style settings to match it".

For every style option, if there's not a 90% (customizable) consensus in the code, it should ask how to resolve every ambiguity.

Then finally the wizard should ask me if I want to format the rest of the code with these rules and fix inconsistencies.

Probably very hard to implement tho :)

I feel like with engines like Unity is, business people gets excited about stuff like "Let's integrate AI into the editor workflow" where developers gets excited over stuff like "You can now serialize generics"

All the stuff that'd genuinely improve the engine neither sound hip, big, or even easy to understand for a layperson.

Especially the much needed "work on stability and deprecate redundant features" sounds extremely uncool.

@pettter I don't know, I never clicked with Tunic super well, I've given two attempts to play it.

Like, I hear it's amazing, but the combat is a tad too difficult for me (Death's Door hit that spot better), and I spent too much time running around aimlessly searching, which isn't a thing I enjoy that much.

So I never got to the really good stuff. I think Outer Wilds and Chants of Sennaar is more my thing.

Made it through Chants of Sennaar!

Wow, what an excellent game! I love games where understanding the stories is essential to solving the puzzles. Story & puzzle aren't separate things in this game, but carries each other. Just, wow!

I really like how in Pacific Drive, the anomalies doesn't seem malicious. Sure, the abductors grabs the car, but they really just grab anything they can 'cause it's what they do. In fact, most anomalies seem drawn to flares or each other as much as the car or player.

It doesn't feel "evil", more like being stuck in anomalous chaos with no actual intent, only a complete disregard for your safety.

It's a neat take on danger!

Why go through it when you can go over it? I made it to the top of the wall in Pacific Drive!

Note that it contains a minor spoiler about the end objective, though it's pretty vague.

I'm 37 hours in and Pacific Drive is just so goddamn good. This is going into my top favorite games ever, among with games like Outer Wilds and Journey.

I just really, really love this game!

Edit: 37 hours, not 17. I have no idea how I mistyped that

The other day I fell on incredibly slippery ice covered by a thin layer of snow.

    Today's weather:

    * Slippery ice
    * Ice with gravel on but a layer on ice above the gravel so it just looks safe but isn't
    * Ice with water on it
    * Spots that look like exposed asphalt & stone, but surprise: it's actually also ice

Walking the doggo = so dangerous, and my back and elbows are still hurting from the fall the other day!

I miss the real winter :(

I feel it was long since I played a game that tried to keep me out of bounds with honest geometry.

Lately all games I've played have had special navigation geometry that's practically impossible to break free of. Very little physics/collider shenanigans to exploit.

Last game I played that had really good out of bounds exploration was High on Life, I believe.

Game idea. Put important info in the top-left, top-right and bottom-right corner. This means streamers will place their face in the bottom-left. Nice! Now, make a trap in the level.

When a player falls for it, have a very mild insult like "silly goose" and an arrow pointing toward the bottom-left corner.

@mcc Yeah, that stuff is super annoying. A good thing is, in Visual Studio, you can right click the thing and it'll show you which namespaces it can be found it. Well, for C# at least.

But obviously you shouldn't have to, I completely agree that ofc it should be in the sample code.

Edit: Also, wow, that sample code really likes putting "this" before stuff :O

Life advice: Don't let people live rent free in your head.

Approximate how long they've lived there and invoice them properly for the service. Note that overcharging rental fees is illegal in many countries, so keep the rate reasonable.

Recommendation: Watch "Look Around You", one of the strangest and funniest TV shows ever made.

It makes it even funnier that we used to watch the educational films in school that it's poking fun at.

Anyone got recommendations for software for drawing flowcharts? It's OK if the flowcharts are butt ugly as long as the interface for making them is good!
