Wtf. As a 41yr old I'm now in the same bracket as a 70yr old?
💩
Anyway. A good book. As in: a hardcover. And from an author the old man already has shown interest in. Maybe even a book the old man has discussed and mentioned "wanting to read again".
Basically a hard cover of LOTR.
Or LEGO.
And if they're into outdoorsy "work" style stuff like hobby forestry, get the old man professional quality safety gear (jacket, fitted safety glasses etc).
Danish society is often oblivious to religious sensitivities. Apparently my kid will go to church today. No permission slip needed.
Message from our government run day-care: "In addition to a lot of festive fun the children had cozy Christmas lunch with delicious food. Tomorrow the last event of the year awaits, a visit to the church, together with the other children institutions."
"Please consider the environmental and ethical costs of so-called AI before using them to reply to this email. Every interaction has an unseen footprint."
Or the sneaky corporate one I could see the likes of Microsoft and Apple implement:
"When using AI to reply to this email: Please keep queries concise and relevant to support sustainable AI use."
"Successful leaders utilize the dynamics of the organization and are curious about others. By learning of different perspectives, decisive actions define an inclusive environment of managed revenue growth."
Leaders: ok, so we take off the organization's shoes just before the operations people have to walk in wet grass (the leader is helicoptered out without touching the grass).
I think there's room for a movie where a sleep deprived QHSE Manager on their way to an early start at work ends up fighting off the zombie apocalypse.
Only hours later we find out they were just really tired and confused groups of punkarse school going teenagers with bands of marauding zombies.
It's a movie oriented at adults. And very relatable to all who have ever taking a Tuesday morning bus.
OH: Some excellent people management in the train.
[woman on phone to her colleague] "Sorry, we'll talk details later. I'm in a small cabin with three others and don't want to be that rude person who talks loudly in a phone for an hour."
Somehow the man who has been loudly video-chatting with (mostly to..) colleagues for the past 45 minutes has now ended his meeting and went to the bathroom.
The woman turned to me and asked: So sad, do you think his colleagues also hate him?
@juliette just reminded me this entire running on time thing might still be a fad as Danish/German border control can "randomly" (Schengen) give us a 30 minute delay.
Also a question: DSB includes ONE disinfectant wipe in their goody bag. Any idea what specifically this is meant for? Why not zero or two?
Soon multiple local experts were busy explaining issues of immigration, muslims & "the paki when they don't keep their place".
It was the only time in my life I left a meal half finished.
I spend a year in the Welsh valleys where the German thing also came up. But never in Wales did I feel this would escalate, and never was it that aggressively racist.
Next day at the client the "guys" said "nice place" about that spoons & I figured it best to drop it.
Anecdote: on a worktrip to the UK I stayed in that #Rothertham hotel that was just attacked by racist thugs. I forgot about the rooms but the breakfast was shit.
Anyway.
Having never been to that area of the UK I went out for dinner. As it was monday I ended up in a Wetherspoons. After establishing that I was not, indeed, a German, but Dutch ("Cruijff was good") all was well and I ended up chatting with the regulars.
Have you ever wondered how #LEGO degrades when it's buried in a sandy #Danish garden for about 30 years?
I did. Here's the answer. I took photos with a #microscope (30x magnification) of an old brick (1x2 slope) found in our garden, and a newish brick found on an elfish castle.
The photos (smartphone camera held above the oculair) answer the question of what it looks like.
