@siege this is exactly right, and why watching it in the theater in Brooklyn with friends is still very very vivid- it’s dysphoria and misgendering and horror done to you by an immovable force, and all the things you try before you can escape (the art, the meditating, the suicide attempts) excerpt instead of puberty-for-a-trans-person the force is mad scientist antonio banderas; it’s so so striking
@siege much ‘wait are you doing lace curtain vs shanty elvish discourse based on what forest your cousins live in??’ And ‘oh those guys just intrinsically love gold, uhh no reason’
@siege makes sense to me, I can always get more plastic wrap anywhere, morphine not so much; start selling it at the grocery store again like ye olde times and we’ll talk
@siege yes! I was remembering you telling me about that show and the seige theory of Stirring Ending and I love it, that makes total sense Omg it would be so much more interesting if neo & trinity were swapping 👀
@siege see I don’t even remember that part, I got stuck on the ‘monster revives the Dr by pouring wine all over his face’ and how much fuel that would be for an acting feud lol
@siege@thejessiekirk hi! The remaining third of the bellwether family chiming in to say a) please don’t & b) everything CJ said- mira wasn’t nor anyone else is getting rich off 10 bucks a pop, but the reason was this: in a world where trans women’s work is devalued, putting a literal monetary value on her own work was Making A Point
@siege they tried to do a reboot in the 2010s which was so terrible they only aired two episodes, which says something during a period of high tolerance for the worst fucking network sitcoms you’ve ever seen https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Work_It_(TV_series)
@siege and called bosom buddies no less! I’ve never seen it besides bits in those ‘BEFORE THEY WERE FAMOUS!’ Clip shows like where they show Morgan freeman on the electric company in the 70s or brad pitt’s 80’s Pringle commercial https://youtu.be/SEm_FIGKjsg?si=xpGuJni3JvbpCZ18
