@tk Linode, Digital Ocean, gandi, 1984 and several others that offer "cheaper" prices but do not accept credit card payments. The issue is with my currency which completely collapsed over the past year.

@tk Netcup is the most affordable and stable provider I found, but they ask for something weird : a selfie with my ID card with English or German translation, and a piece of paper with your order. The thing about running a fediverse software is that it is resource hungry by design. It will pull in remote content. That demands loads of storage than a regular VPS.

You cannot save our planet or anything even remotely good by attacking great cultural accomplishments!

And what kind of a newspaper would normalize such vandalism by publishing pathetic statements like "Bystanders in the National Gallery had mixed feelings about the action."? Really!? Mixed feelings?

The overly "neutral" stance the newspaper is trying to take on the incident is very disturbing. They have even interviewed the organizers of this crime.

It is very striking that they did not interview anyone representing the museum. Or an art historian or at least someone who opposes this madness.

Having a power outage on top of the scheduled power cuts. Batteries are about to die. Not sure if they will fix it tonight.

Phew! They fixed it around 3 am. This is a big relief because we have no cooking gas since last November. No usable firewood this week either because of heavy rain.

I meant the climate in this part is a lot cooler and less humid than in Colombo for example. My place is situated close to a paddy field and a few small water streams. This makes the air even more pleasant. We experience extreme heat for a short period, 2 - 3 weeks each year. But that too can be dealt without a fan or AC.

@veer66 Ah I never use an electric fan. It is not needed in this part of the country. Power cuts affect other things such as using the computer, cooking, doing laundry etc.

We did the same, in the late 80s here in Sri Lanka, watching the same series! The entire neighborhood turned into a Sherwood forest \o/

It's raining outside, and my internet connection is down. The usual story. They say this is due to water leaking into underground phone lines.

As a founding member of the Rain Appreciation Society I condemn this baseless accusation. They should have done proper maintenance of the phone lines instead blaming the #rain!
