So, you are complaining that they are not consuming enough electricity and resources per user?
Just think it is a weird thing to rant about, that they claim to be performant. They also seems to intend to go opensource by Aug 29, and if so it sounds like a good thing to have someone using VC money to improve the mastodon ecosystem.

@pettter @mnl I understand that it's about actually owning your music, and old as I am I actually do that already for my personal preference.
However, comparing Spotify to piracy is quite a stretch, since the artists publish it there by choice. How much money they make from it is not relevant. By your reasoning, there is no difference between FLOSS and piracy, since you are not supporting the authors. It is just a flawed argument.
But, I get your point.

@mnl What are the upsides for me as a consumer? Why should I switch from Spotify to Bandcamp? Genuinely curious.

@rasmusfleischer Att byta uppläsare med annan dialekt skulle nog vara rätt odramatiskt. Alfons Åberg gick från att vara hårt förknippat med Björn Gustafsson, till att nästan obemärkt läsas av Jonas Karlsson.

@rasmusfleischer Vi förknippar ju många verk med dialekter. Utvandrarna citeras alltid på överdriven småländska. De flesta av Astrid Lindgrens verk spelas upp i mitt huvud på en lätt småländsk dialekt. Ser inget större fel med det. Tvärtom är väl berättelserna om Mumin ett fin sätt att komma i kontakt med en dialekt av Svenska som ofta glöms bort.
