FWIW, I've voted for Kamala Harris in every election I could, and I've never been disappointed. She and I grew up in the politically savvy, multicultural Bay Area only a few years apart and I feel like her political arrow points in about the same direction as mine. She absolutely has my support. #harris2024#Harris
It occurred to me today that even though over 1 million Americans have died from Covid, we have no national memorial or national day day of mourning and how the powers that be have decided to memory hole the whole thing and how wrong this is.
Hi everyone! It’s me, here in exile from the bird site. I tried tumblr, but while it’s fun, it’s too non-linear to keep up with the news on. I’m here for now. Hopefully this’ll work out. Follow back for curated news, topical events, loads of open minded, progressive, civil rights things, art, geek culture, and occasionally recipes.
@aniltj@pluralistic They also acquire startups only to shelve their tech innovations. I know someone who used to do startup acquisitions for Microsoft. 20 yrs ago they bought a startup that found a way to make computers unhackable. They were so excited about the tech and how it would help. Microsoft shelved it. They don’t do acquisitions anymore.
@thomasfuchs What's really scary is the likelihood of getting Long Covid is closer to 1 out of 10 infections. It's like Russian Roulette. And every time you catch Covid again, you spin that barrel.
@knowattitude@StillIRise1963@cykonot I hope your dad is doing better. And yes, we need a massive class action lawsuit against medical institutions that do not practice basic hygiene (masking) and then follow it up with regulations. You can’t fix stupid, but stupid should be expensive. Also, sadly, as they say, every regulation was written in blood. Reminds me so much of the AIDS crisis.
@charliejane Not surprising. Covid damages the part of the brain responsible for risk assessment. Been noticing a lot of really bad driving lately too. Like loosely interpreting the double yellow line type bad driving.
@danlyke@FransVeldman True. It needs to be addressed on both ends. I know of people who live in Ukiah (more affordable housing but few jobs) who commute to the mall in Petaluma because that’s where the jobs are. Ukiah could really use business investments, too.
Ya know, Peggy from Twitter. Artist, writer, musician, was in an anthology on the NYT Bestseller list. Should really find the time to get back to making my comic at some point….
