@thomasfuchs I agree with your general direction, but remember, Apple *absolutely* wanted to cram AI into everything. Take a look again at the WWDC keynotes from a few years back. Someone I think The Verge even made an ‘AI Supercut’. They just utterly failed to do so, got sued, and lost because of their failure to deliver.

I’m just saying it’s REALLY telling how *intensely* racist the US is when there are states *in the middle of an active primary* that are shutting it down so they can redistrict to prevent Black people from representation because SCOTUS said it’s OK to do a racism.

This is like racism speedruns.

@thomasfuchs Are you looking for something custom, or one of the sell-through configs? Have you hit the less obvious online retailers, like, say, OWC? Is refurbished an option?

For Reasons, I am not buying new apple hardware or hardware directly from apple, but I was able to get a refurb mini with 24gb ram for pretty cheap from a 3rd party. Donnow if that’s an option for you.

But other folk have to want to listen to whatever they are saying. Servers and individuals can just decide not to. No one is guaranteed an audience, just the ability to speak.

@lapcatsoftware the situation of your toilet clogging. It’s not normal, so I’m wondering if either the install of the toilet, or the drain line is out of code/spec.

I’ve only owned fairly boring toto and American Standard toilets (the AS being better designed, TBH), but they don’t clog in normal use.

@lapcatsoftware I realise this is a shitpost (ahem), but I’ve never had a domestic toilet clog on me. I’ve seen utter disasters/sabotage in public toilets, but never a domestic one, and now I’m disturbingly curious as to your situation.

But also, and I cannot stress this enough: do not trust anthropic or any other company. Companies are not your friend. They are not part of your tribe. They should not be part of your identity.

@thomasfuchs Notionally I agree, but I also think the primary buyer for a neo isn’t the same buyer of their high end expensive displays (all of Apple’s displays are ‘high end’). Overall, I don’t think it’ll affect sales.

I wear sunglasses prettymuch all day if I’m out of doors. I’ve several pairs, and they’re all polarised, except one. IOS’s face recognition knows my face with or without them on… except when I wear the pair that aren’t polarised.

I actually think it has little/nothing to do with the polarisation, but the design of the non-polarised pair has a silver bar across the top of the lenses which may distort what it thinks is my face enough for a ‘no match’.

Weird.
