economists will talk about how bailouts are a moral hazard and then defend fiat and keynsian economics in the exact same breath like they're not the same thing

It's crazy how zoomers vanish off the face of the earth when they're not forced to be somewhere. School had people my age, then I graduated and they all disappeared. Church used to have people my age but then they got old enough to say no to their parents and now it's a glorified retirement home. I'm the youngest person in my entire company and the next youngest person is over a decade my senior.

I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something wrong with this mindset I have, and I think I figured it out:

When I live like there's no tomorrow, that necessarily means I have nothing to live for tomorrow.

I could definitely see myself overdosing on drugs in ten years. I should probably correct course but I don't have a sea chart.

I think that's the essential weakness of hedonism, and why true hedonists all kill themselves. Novelty is a really terrible reason to stay alive, but honestly it's kinda all I got right now.

Thanks to the total cultural isolation which Zoomers are submersed in, the primary way to make connections is to dig to a more fundamental level and find those things which are near universal. Base emotions and desires bubble up and start to be identified, and this becomes identity, because it's more "real" than bonding over media consumption. That's why people say they are "incels" or "bipolar" or "doomers" or "autistic" or "asexual" et cetera. These are the only universals which zoomers can point to and say "omg I've felt that! That's me!"

While this base identity has staying power, it is completely lacking in genuine character, so everybody ends up feeling shallow to oneself and others. The Zoomer didn't do anything to arrive there. There is no meaning or purpose derived from it. The more easily influenced can be handed prebaked "character" like religion or democracy, but peel away at the layers and you'll find that most are wearing someone else's character and LARPing. Generally, they are only donning those robes because they know not what else can make them feel whole. We need something to be complete.

Say what you will about LGBT bullshit culture and the societal harm it causes, I actually do think there is some merit in attempting to identify and articulate different forms of attraction beyond "normal" and "abnormal." At least they're trying, and it's why they recruit so many young people who struggle with self identity. There is no such avenue of support or discussion in the broader right wing and that's entirely to its detriment.

@nugger >THE PEOPLE WHO WRITE ABOUT THE NON-BINARY AND ASEXUAL DEMISEXUAL AROMANTIC SAPPHIC ATTRACTION MAY TALK ABOUT ALL THAT -- BUT ONLY WANT TO ASSRAPE TWINKS. THAT'S ALL LGBT IS.
This makes me think you've never actually sat and talked to rank-and-files. It reads the same as the people who looked at the 200k viewers of Saba's debut stream and thought "yup they're all pedophiles!"
"Mainstream culture" was initially created by homosex hookup queers, and that's the unfortunate sandbox that normies are dumped into, but it's patently absurd to say the kids in the sand are the same as the adults who poured it.
I didn't really have a full point in mind when I wrote my initial posts, but more or a general sentiment I've been noticing in myself the less I interact with chuds. We offer nothing. There might be a Michelangelo of our times on here, but he'll never make his magnum opus without an audience, and this bar's empty.
I don't really remember what I was getting at. Nothing, I guess.

@Turdicus @GentlemanRapist For me, the most fascinating part of ebonics is the complete separation of their/there/they're which I assume was done because they can't spell and homophones are hard to parse.

If the Internet were to disappear forever tomorrow, would social life and community become better or worse? What about years after the fact? Who would be most affected?

My life was significantly better before everyone got smartphones. I didn't want cyberspace to destroy meatspace, but eventually everyone else hooked up to it and there was nothing to be found except online. If that went away, eventually everyone would have to crawl out of their room and be human again. I miss humans.

LLM detectors really demonstrate how computers "think" and why I never forsee AI being more than a normie sociological problem.
You can write something very clearly human, but add a "―" and it will immediately flag it as being generated text. Or on the flip side, you can take GPT output, change every marginally complicated word into a more simple synonym, and it'll pass detection.
AI detection is just recursion. It's input -> output -> input -> result. It isn't actually reading or comprehending, but rather scanning for computer hiccups. It can't get a "vibe" that it's fake like people can, because it's not doing people things. None of it is real.

@theorytoe Yes, theoretically. It's already happening somewhat as more and more kids get wise to the college scam but don't want to be stuck working the Wendy's drive thru for the rest of their lives.
However, there's a 1-2 combo of sunk cost in people who went to school for tech not wanting to go BACK to education, and a general hopelessness that leads a lot of people to not persue it even if it's the smart option.

Oh that's easy, the hard part is finding the real humans amidst the sea of barely-humans.

    HOLY SHIT I WAS DELUDED
I GENUINELY THOUGHT I HAD THINGS FIGURED OUT. I THOUGHT I ESCAPED THE ZOOMER CURSE. I SOMEHOW THOUGHT THAT I COULD RISE ABOVE IT THROUGH MERIT AND LUCK.
    NOPE. IT'S A CONSTANT.

@themilkman I avoided LITERALLY EVERY PITFALL. I didn't take out huge loans. I didn't get a useless degree. I haven't loafed around. I haven't burned bridges. I literally did everything right and I'm still fucked over for it.

@themilkman I'm upset because I thought I was better. I genuinely gaslit myself into thinking "hmmm other people have this problem because they're not willing to degrade themselves enough" and then I swam in shit for years only to end up at square one
