@glynmoody I remember when I could not wait for the next new product. Then they started killing everything inc Google+. Their email today has no E2EE and much of their ways regarding monetising our data have been exposed. Still a shade better than Meta tho!
7 free open-source tools for amazing photo and video edits
While there is no shortage of powerful photo and video editing tools, most of them come with a hefty price tag or require a subscription to get started. It may discourage students, beginners, and freelancers from exploring them fully. Luckily, thank ...continues
Successful South African electric vehicle maker that few people know about
South African firm MellowVans is seeing massive demand for its groundbreaking three-wheeled electric vehicle (EV), which aims to combine the best features of motorcycles with light vans for last-mile cargo transport and courier deliveries.
Much of the world’s medical equipment is made by a handful of monopolistic megacorps, but Milos Rasic built an open cardiography signal measuring device for his master’s thesis.
Using a Pi Pico W for the brains, Rasic’s device can record, store a ...continues
@glynmoody Trump may also have caught onto the old trick that if you get involved in a war you can extend your reign of power longer, and of course that many companies profit from war. I have this sickening feeling that he is not going to do much to avert a WWIII.
@glynmoody it is fraught with holes though - only Big Tech and not every Mastodon instance run by a single person, or possibly if the person self-hosts their own instance of Mastodon. To me, it feels more like government is trying to pass responsibility onto someone else without thinking this through very well. Not sure that big social media is so much more dangerous than small social media it is all connected.
@glynmoody he is right - for a tech tycoon, he has actually kept out of trouble. I'm forever grateful to Mark for helping instigate the popularity of #Linux on home and business desktops. My company sent me on a Linux course (Red Hat course) shortly after that to convert from Windows. I was fully converted and have never looked back.
@glynmoody just because AI does the filtering, it should be as illegal, or legal, whether HR did the filtering. AI does not absolve any company from liability - they just need to be very sure on what basis it is doing filtering, just like they brief and train their HR to do it.
@glynmoody to keep it all equal with how Russia is being handled - that is only fair. Here in our country there is speak of "past friends" but sure if a past friend commits a crime today, that still makes their actions criminal...
@glynmoody that's a lot more than 2 or 3 accidental deaths. The second time I've seen today that Australia has involvement in government sponsored "massacres" - the other was today's Juice Media video about Myanmar. I dread to think what the world would be like without a free media to report these atrocities.
Most Android phones, that contain eSIMs, are pretty expensive.
Fortunately, several companies have developed eSIM adapters that can be plugged into regular physical SIM card slots and add eSIM technology to your phone.
@dynamic yes correct. They are supposed to federate on their protocol but it is telling that there are no other instances I know of yet after all this time. I know that posting to them is a bit complex via the API so not sure if that counts at all.
@dansup this is fantastic now that #pixelfed has APK releases on Github - we can use #Obtanium and similar to get the updates direct as soon as they are published on Github!
