I have to watch my poor kittens flinch every time a firework goes off. Curtains closed to minimize noise and all. Fuck fireworks. No fucking point at all, just noise and pollution.

  @Gargron 💯 We recently moved to a new place. Before, we were quite lucky with noise. At the new place people started fireworks a day before already like it would be NYE all night. My one cat didn’t come out of its hiding spot all day 😒

    Fireworks
    
    Fireworks are low explosive pyrotechnic devices used for aesthetic and entertainment purposes. They are most commonly used in fireworks displays (also called a fireworks show or pyrotechnics), combining a large number of devices in an outdoor setting. Such displays are the focal point of many cultural and religious celebrations, though mismanagement could lead to fireworks accidents. Fireworks take many forms to produce four primary effects: noise, light, smoke, and floating materials (confetti most notably). They may be designed to burn with colored flames and sparks including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and silver. They are generally classified by where they perform, either 'ground' or 'aerial'. Aerial fireworks may have their own propulsion (skyrocket) or be shot into the air by a mortar (aerial shell).   I think fireworks with audible explosive reports are stupid (sometimes unavoidable) but there are plenty of great fireworks that are relatively silent eye candy.

  @Gargron Not just the pets, lots of veterans and people with PTSD are having a hard time right now. That selfish attitude of "I don't really care about other people, or other living beings, as long as I'm having a good time, only my needs and wants are important" is the reason why the world is so fucked up.
