     @Gargron Wow, I had no idea... My first reaction was that a mandatory longer review text would cut down the "it's crap" opinions. But then the "prompt engineers" or whatever they are, would just spam everything with the gift that is AI.

     Maybe we are just doomed (in all fronts) 😅

     Anyway, five stars from me.

     @Gargron Well to be fair, it's no more of an echo chamber than other social media, which is very much an echo chamber.

     That said, if you want to use mastodon, the Android app is a useful way to do it.

     So you are saying that if there was a way to take the web app frontend code and deploy it as a native app, you could have an increase in the number of signups *without* having to develop and manage three separate codebases?

     @Gargron Well, this is the point for me where I stop relying on ratings in the Play store. Probably I should stop relying on such ratings in general, everywhere.

     Of course this is not helpful for you, this is just a note for myself (and for anyone who might read this).

     Just try it, and see how it works, instead of judging by reviews that unknown, untrustworthy people or bots wrote.

     It would be easier to leave a positive review if Devs would stop breaking Mastodon. A few weeks ago I started getting the error 'No application exists to open the link,' or words to that effect. I have to copy and paste the link into a browser, so half the time I don't bother. That's on Mastodon for Android. Works fine on my Macbook.

     @Gargron It also is currently holding a rating of 4.8 in the Play Store, the majority of one stars are from the mass Twitter exodus with people who clearly have no clue how technology works at all and the vast majority are positive reviews. Still couldn't hurt to add positive ones to the pile.

     @Greengordon The mobile app and the server software have separate versioning. The server is 4.3, the most recent Mastodon for Android version is 2.9.4. If the error persists, let me know.

     Thank you, I’m on 2.9.3 and it looks like the current release is 4.3, so I’m way behind!

     I assume it should be auto-updating, so I’ll have to look into why that’s not happening. I had to go into Play Store to update.
