Looking for recommendations of visual novel games. What are some notable ones?
I'm interested in standouts both from a story perspective and also the technology side.

Tuning in for the last remaining minutes of The Joe Bob Countdown on #Shudder.
I thought Summer School was over, but I'm scared Joe Bob's going to give us a pop quiz later about which grave sites have what sorts of bodies in there.
I might follow this one up with Phantasm.
I spy the signage and it reads: Cemetery Man.

#NowWatching Cemetery Man (1994)
This is a first time viewing for me.
@mcc @glyph @SnoopJ I once "came to" and was at my computer with 8 versions of nodejs installed and had no memory of installing even one.
I love a web UI where you need to click _off_ of an overlay to dismiss it, but you literally can't find another part of the page that doesn't also respond to clicks so you're constantly looking for slivers of negative space between things to delicately place your cursor on.
It's never been easier to make a movie.
This is very much a "some people got some digital video camcorders and that's all they spent money on" movie.
#NowWatching Amityville Vampire (2021)
Uh. Yup. That's what it's called.
Pretty sure they left the camera's autofocus on and it's just going wild when it thinks the subject is something unexpected passing through the frame.
Camera operator can't figure out how to keep the shot in focus.
It just occurred to me some of these interior shots are handheld, not for the effect, but rather because they're shooting in real spaces instead of on sets and probably don't have room for a dolly or tripod.
I think I remember some story about how you can't copyright "Amityville" so there's just a bunch of garbage out there without any real link to that movie.
This is the first time I've seen a movie featuring a big titty vampire who has nipple piercings.
Also, he's wearing sneakers and a very mass-manufactured button-down shirt.
I think this guy is meant to be in 17th century garb, but I notice now he's wearing cargo pants with velcro flaps.
Nobody even tried to light this shot.
One interesting side-effect of the fracturing of the streaming space in this post-netflix-is-the-only-streamer-in-town era is now we get to see how the various media companies are organized. The corporate structure, who owns who, is starkly reflected in what shows up in one catalog or another.
Elaborate HoaxCat Dad, Software Engineer, Horror fan, PDX-adjacent.
