Nina PaleyNow that I have Covid Reactive Autoimmune Pathology (CRAP), specifically Crohn's disease developed after an extended bout with Covid this Spring, I am thinking about all the douchenozzles who told me that the vaccines making me extremely sick was "good." "It means you have a strong immune system!" they said. Well guess what, a "strong immune system" that gives you a 102° fever for 3 days and makes you sick for at least ten, just from the jab, is an immune system that might turn on your own flesh given enough viral stimulation. "If they make you very sick, it means they are doing their job." Thanks for the Crohn's disease, lady. https://capture.dropbox.com/fwegdfbDIGfgZT1x
UPDATE: Pie spent the night in the fridge. I had some for breakfast. It is now very close to perfect. Lesson learned: let pie cool overnight. I'm amazed I made this thing from scratch. Success!

Nina PaleyBecause my Momz greatly enjoys shopping, for the past 11 years we lived together she obtained almost all our household groceries. Prior to this I lived on my own as a grown-ass adult for several decades and did my own shopping, but I hate it so had no problem letting her have all the "fun." Since she moved to her own "independent living" fancy senior apartment a week ago, I have been planning my re-entry into the world of this task (and others). Apparently in 2023 I can order stuff via my local grocery store's website and just bike over there and pick it up! Or, if I'm feeling exceptionally lazy and don't mind paying a small fee, they'll deliver stuff to my door. This afternoon I put the big panniers on my bike and rode 4 miles to Aldi for some of my favorite cheap delicious staples. The ice cream didn't even melt on the ride home. Everything is gonna be alright.
@polarisera This is actually a Big Thing and one I prepared for, although I'm working out the details now. I'm pretty happy to have control over this aspect of my life again, even if it comes at a cost. Mom's shopping habits wasted a lot of food. I'm intrigued by the challenge of shopping frugally with less waste.
Since I don't have a car, I have to make plans for heavier items, like the 5-lb bags of King Arthur Bread Flour I want on hand. Mom drove me so crazy in the kitchen, I cooked far less than when I lived alone. Sometimes I'd go out to eat just to get away from her hovering and interference. I look forward to cooking more this winter than I have in 10 years.
