First Google Translate wants me to sign in elaborately, 2FA and all, to translate a single sentence. Then when I nope out, and try again a minute later because I do want to translate a sentence, it lets me in just like that. WTF? (Also I turned 2FA OFF because I was fed up with the constant nagging to get at my own stuff in my own house with no security risk whatsoever, but G pushes it on me ANYWAY. WTFF?)
@halla and me on the doorstep of the kitchenware shop: "do we go in?" "nah, we don't really need anything -- well, let's go in anyway" so we came out with a green Le Creuset oven dish, a turquoise Le Creuset spoon-holder, a large deep stainless steel frying pan because the one that had served us 30+ years had developed a hole in the bottom, and two cut-glass whiskey glasses.
@craigmaloney They're not in the choir because reasons (one reason being that I'm the boss and I don't want them in it, they're too dominant for me to handle. I don't want every practice and every service to be a battle of wills.)
Dear person who isn't in the choir but can't help singing along:
(1) I understand that you can't help singing. I'm made the same way. (2) I do mind, but I don't object. (3) But please don't fill in missing parts, because this music is DESIGNED for incomplete choirs and if it's different from what we practiced I get confused. If you must sing (and again, I understand that you must) sing a part that's already being sung, for instance the alto part because I know you're an alto.
@HauntedOwlbear@dessertgeek I dislike the term too. Calling creative people "content creators" rather than what they are (artists, video makers, writers, musicians, whatever) reduces them to making filling around the ads which are the companies' main payload.
@craigmaloney I was on identi.ca for a while but it gave me the feeling that it was only virtuous and no fun at all (because the people I wanted to talk with weren't there, only very serious open source advocates and programmers, not for instance writers or artists). I stayed because I thought it was the correct thing to do, but left when pump.io took it over because I couldn't stand the slogan, “It pumps your life in and out of your friends, family and colleagues.”
