@evan Gave up on laptops a year ago, in pursuit of performance. What's the point of packing a laptop with a fast i9 processor, 64GB of RAM, and 2TB of fast NVME SSD, only to have the silly thing constantly throttle due to overheat?

Now I'm confused. Maybe I don't know how quotes are supposed to work in Mastodon.

When I tap the Quote icon in Fedilab, the toot I was viewing at the time appears above where I can put in my own text. But when I send, no trace of the "quoted" toot appears, and my toot isn't even linked to the quoted one. So Quote just acts like a limited Reply.

Oh, well, sorry for the confusion.

Yet the Fedilab app on my tablet shows the quote button and I was able to quote a toot with no problems. And it is Fedilab there.

Fedilab here on my phone doesn't show a quote button.

Using my account on mastodon.social on both.

Ideas?

@fesshole More companies have been put out of business by bad management than all other reasons combined.

Reminds me of employers that would downsize people (often older) with the idea of hiring in a cheaper replacement, only to discover that the one person actually did three different jobs...so they ended up having to hire three people to replace them...

Interesting, all the Linux machines in our house had no problems finding any of the four different printers we've had around here over the last two decades. Neither have our assorted Android devices.

Even the couple of Windows 10 machines we had around had no problems.

I guess Windows 11 just isn't ready for primetime yet!

Welcome, Christine! I try to keep in mind to that we are all just a short distance from blindness - a stroke, accidents involving eyes, untreated cataract, untreated glaucoma, etc. We're all very fragile beings!
