Ok, I have a request that I am hoping Mastodon can deliver.

I am looking for some reading material on Autism and supporting autistic kids *in Persian*. I have a friend who may be going down the diagnosis path with their kid, and so far they have been using Google translate, but it's really bad for Persian translation. If anyone can point me in the direction of any documents, books, advice etc that is in Persian that I can show to her, that would be amazing.

While I am glad the Tories are out, I do not think Starmer’s Labour are going to be much better.

I would really love to be proven wrong, but so far their track record has been pretty shite.

@Teaceratops I’m glad the Greens have gained seats. I also do not think they would be great leading the country, but I think they are an important voice in parliament, and that’s why I support them.

@Teaceratops my home county voted conservative like a bunch of losers.

@Teaceratops what I will say is that if you look at the proportional representation of votes, rather than the results of First-Past-the-Post results, it’s not as big a win as is initially looks, and that is a worrying number of Reform votes.

I’m shocked that after the last decade+ of Tory shite, over 6.5 million people still voted for them. Over 4 million people voted for Reform, and I can’t believe that many people can’t see Farage as the Dodgy Used Car Salesman that he is.

@Teaceratops @gord @eniko @HauntedOwlbear holy heck I just checked the temps for the country you’re in Eni, and over the next few days, and 43C is ridiculous wtf. That’s the maximum temps we got in Bangalore in the year we decided to leave. The goddamn air burns.

@eniko @HauntedOwlbear oof. We went through that in India when I was pregnant. I didn’t leave the one A/C room we had in the house for months. Power outages (which happen on a daily basis) were hellish. You have all my sympathy - I hope I never go through that again.

Hubs also dropped the ‘could it be EDS Hypermobile type?’ Doctor asked ‘were you flexible as a child?’ I replied in used to be alble to scratch the top of my head with my toes’ so he did a quick Beighton tests and was like, “oh wow, actually you might be onto something there, we’ll look into that after we check your spine” which you know, COULD EXPLAIN WHY MY BODY KEEPS FALLING APART.

@Teaceratops which is also shitty because there’s no cure, it’s genetic, and a lot of neurodiverse people have it, and I noticed my neurodiverse child has the same clicky wrists I have and fuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

@Teaceratops so the trick in QC to get seen by a doctor, is to let your health problem get to a point where it’s so bad, you’re prepared to spend 24 hours in ER, and then barrage whatever doctor you get with your medical history until you intimidate them into sending you for scans, after you have been awake for 33 hours. In order to get tiny person to do her homework, the teacher and I encourage her to write a silly sentence using the week’s spelling words, and to draw a picture. It works pretty well, and I’m glad TP’s teacher has a sense of humour.

Anyway, this week she drew farting clams.

Some of you may know that while we were living in Bengaluru, we would experience this every year, and it was getting increasingly worse. I don’t think this article actually hammers home just how bad it is. It’s not ‘reducing water consumption by 50%’, its ‘there’s no fucking water in the taps, in the tankers, at the supermarket, in the lakes, anywhere at all’

@Teaceratops my husband keeps claiming it is the dog.

If that was the case, our dog (who rarely ever farted) has suddenly started farting all the time, and making the sound come from elsewhere, like his ass is some kind of ventriloquist.

My dog is smart, but he absolutely cannot control sound waves.

Anyway. Don’t get Covid.

@Teaceratops also going to point out that I was fully vaccinated at the time of getting Covid, so no, the vaccine WILL NOT save you from the horror of only ever being able to smell only other people’s farts for months on end.

The only thing that will prevent you getting Covid, other than eliminating Covid from the planet, is to wear a properly fitting mask & to get those around you to do the same.

I mask in public. My husband does not. He gave me Covid. So now I loudly tell him when he farts.
