Sometimes I dream of owning a chonky, rugged laptop.
I don't need a laptop that can go up the side of a mountain with me, but something in me yearns for hardy tech that's also running a Linux distro.

Kind of pissed at the Sainsbury's news. Including the cafe closures.
I regularly used the cafe at the local one.
I suppose it'll end up being sublet to some much worse coffee chain, offering just utter junk to eat and drink. No jacket potatoes or fish and chips.
It is getting harder and harder to find somewhere to eat out in Cornwall that is not some kind of gentrification project or Wetherspoons.
So... good alternatives to Proton Mail?
I am very sick of people saying AI will help solve problems like climate change. See it used as a justification for the money that keeps being thrown at it.
We don't need a Deep Thought to get us out of this mess. Certainly not one that contributes to the problem!
We need actual action based on the knowledge we already have and the dismantling and replacement of the systems that got us into this mess in the first place.
Really hoping this hat I've finished knitting will fit my daughter.
At least she's into wearing hats now. She wasn't when I originally started.
Daughter loves hat. Has insisted on wearing it even when she doesn't need to.
Really glad she does like it.
This really hit me hard today. Having to say goodbye to Nerds Assemble. The generative AI companies scraping the depths of the public internet are stealing from people. Pure and simple. Every time we were scraped, it was costing me money and it was infringing on Nerds' copyright. We might do another podcast show in future, but put it this way, we'll be looking for ways to keep it locked down to only people who want to listen to it and not profit from our labour for free.
#AI #GenAI
Went for a big walk around around Trelissick #Cornwall today.
Had to stop and admire this huge #mushroom that was on its last legs and swaying gently in the breeze.
True moment of calm.
Is something is rotten in the state of search? Brandon Saltalamacchia has some concerning points to make in light of Google's recent updates. His points about "one rule" for the big content players and one for everyone else sticks out for me in particular.
