   Sometimes I dream of owning a chonky, rugged laptop.

   I don't need a laptop that can go up the side of a mountain with me, but something in me yearns for hardy tech that's also running a Linux distro.

     @tanepiper @emkingma I have to admit, with all the AI grot and crap being added to tech, I've started regressing tech-wise and holding onto stuff for longer, or getting it from thrift stores, or deliberately seeking out tech that can actively be repaired rather than scrapped and rebought.

     @emkingma I've been thinking about this, and while I'm loathed to hoard stuff, with all the Secureboot and AI crap added to laptop, I'll want to keep around a few older laptops
