Seriously, not wanting to use proper names is really bugging me. It MUST be intentional, right? If so .. why?

Listening to the audiobook of Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell and... well, I'm struggling. I know this book is supposed to be wonderful, but it's not clicking. Part of it is my fault. My earbuds have not been working properly so I'm really only listening in the car. But also: why is the author obsessed with pronouns? It's always "he" or "him" or "the boy." @FlashMobOfOne I watched the finale last night in a packed theater with my family and loved it. We all wore Stranger Things shirts (the 10yo's WSQK shirt is my favorite and I'm sad we couldn't get one in my size on short notice). The 12yo claimed it might have been the best two hours of his life. There were moments when the entire audience laughed and cheered. Overall,a great experience.

My wife didn't love the ending. 🙄

Anyone know what's going on with the AMC Theatres website? Seems like any coding that existed after 1998 has disappeared.

Or is it just me? (I got the same problem in Vivaldi and Microsoft Edge).

@WarnerCrocker It's the O-line. Someone at the top (probably not named McCaskey) finally figured out that it's easier for the quarterback to complete passes when he's not spending half the game flat on his back.

I'm not sure why it took so long, but I'm happy it happened. 🏈👍😎

@chris Thanks! Apparently a railroad tie came loose and jammed into a pipe that controls the air brakes, which initiated an emergency stop. The conductors and engineers have been really great about communication and making sure the passengers are safe.

One of those days where I wish I had just stayed home.

A teacher at the 12yo's school who is also a family friend is being targeted by Christo-fascist group Moms For Liberty. They're calling for her dismissal b/c she had the nerve to post about the recent assassination on her private socials.

My wife is attending tonight's school board meeting to show support for our friend, inclusiveness, and free speech.

@chris I haven't been to Sox Park* in ages, but the concessions experience has to be way better than that at Wrigley Field. It's just a disorganized mess there.

*I refuse to call it by the corporate sponsor name. If I'm around people who won't get offended, I'll refer to it as "The G-Spot," with the appropriate amount of derision.
