Listening to the audiobook of Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell and... well, I'm struggling. I know this book is supposed to be wonderful, but it's not clicking. Part of it is my fault. My earbuds have not been working properly so I'm really only listening in the car. But also: why is the author obsessed with pronouns? It's always "he" or "him" or "the boy." I find it hard to keep track like that. Is the avoidance of proper names intentional? #FridayReads #Books #Bookstodon #AmReading @bookstodon

@dbsalk @bookstodon I started listening to the audio book and also found it a difficult listen. Reading it was a better experience for me.

@WarnerCrocker I wish I had made the switch earlier. I'm about 3/4 of the way through and have made up my mind to stick with it.
FWIW, I really like the narrator. She reminds me of Olivia Coleman crossed with Julie Andrews.
