If suddenly your "billion bytes of RAM and billion Hz CPU" starts struggling with it, something else is horribly wrong and it's not JS itself...

Sure, it's not the most resource efficient language there is but it's certainly not the "heavy pile of garbage" you make it out to be.

@david Oh yea, piracy is something else completely.
Torrenting is just a means to achieve a goal ("piracy" in this case).
The media used doesn't matter too much, it's the goal that gets you in trouble (depending on how strict laws and its enforcement are)

- A bunch of game launchers would be illegal (some launchers use BitTorrent for distributing game files).
- A bunch of sync tools would be illegal (Resilio Sync uses BitTorrent for synchronization)
- COINS (British government's treasury stuff) would be illegal.
- Facebook and Twitter would be illegal (altho... I wouldn't complain about that one).
- Some Uni's would be committing cybercrime (they use BitTorrent for distributing datasets).

And the list goes on.

While I do like Japanese culture in certain aspects, it's horrible in other aspects.

@drewdevault I'm not afraid of discussing them (I'm very much involved in very controversial debates), I just don't want an otherwise fun get together to get soured by these things.

Imagine going to an event, excited to meet people and prepared for lots of fun...
Then suddenly people left, right and center start shouting and crying because these kinds of discussions (I can almost guarantee you that what happens at the table, won't just stay at the table).
I'm pretty sure that'd ruin the experience.
At least, it would for me.

@drewdevault Personally, I would be against holding these kinds of discussions on an event...
They are just too controversial to make a "main thing" and I only see it affect the overall mood in a negative way.

It's good that there would be moderating but personally, I'd just avoid those situations in general... Just way too risky imho.
