A few weeks ago, I sent my 1985 Swiss Army Knife back to Victorinox for a broken blade replacement.

It came back today, fully repaired, cleaned, polished, lubricated and in a new box.

Total cost: £10 + return postage.

They sent the knife back with an invoice. I didn't have to pay a penny before the job was done.

A product that's been out of production for almost 40 years, repaired at very little cost by the original manufacturer.

I'm stunned. Happy, impressed, grateful and stunned.

I think a lot of people don't get what "billionaire" really means. Chatting to a neighbour yesterday, they mentioned that the owner of their company is a "millionaire or billionaire or something..."

When I said that those are two very different things, they just looked at me quizzically.

They got the difference when I put it like this:

£1 Million stacked in £20 notes is as high as your house.

£1 Billion stacked in £20 notes is almost 4 miles high.

That one letter makes all the difference.

@botvolution I can't help thinking that we should just call "influencers" what they really are: human spam.

I'm a little bit in love with this #turntable. I haven't bought something contemporary/new in #hi-fi for a long time and I'm very happy that I didn't just go the default Rega or Pro-Ject route.

This Roksan makes my kind of sound - especially with #synthwave and other synth-heavy music on #vinyl.

@botvolution That's my daily driver cassette deck! Last of the NAD line and massively underrated. If it needs belts, it's one of the easiest decks I've ever worked on :-)

This was described to me by a former Revox/Nakamichi engineer as "One of the best cassette transports ever created, in one of the worst piece of shit ugly boxes I've ever seen!"

If I wanted to explore an open world without shooting anyone, fighting anyone, or being tasked to collect stuff, what title(s) should I be looking at?

I like to drive, fly or even just wander around on foot.

PC or Mac, console if necessary, but not handheld.

In 1979, my parents (a nurse and a car factory worker) allowed themselves a rare indulgence and bought a very expensive (£389.99) National Panasonic SG-5070 music centre.

For context, £389 was twice what they paid for their car and 10% of what they paid for their house!

It replaced the TV as their focus and music became their 'thing' at weekends and whenever shift patterns allowed.

It's taken me a decade to build this from many broken donors, but today it's finished.

I could cry right now.

A guy at the self service checkout was getting increasingly irate and bellowed at a passing staff member that he wanted to speak to the manager.

The manager turned up and asked how she could help. What followed was a furious rant about how the machine wouldn't accept his Tesco Clubcard.

The manager quietly delivered this immortal line:
