@killyourfm I've just come off holiday, stop it damn you! That's awesome Jason, it looks like you're finding some of that tranquility you likely needed. Stepping away from tech (other than the camera) is so nice. Nice photographs too, good eye.

@gamingonlinux Crazy question. You mention Steam should denote games with Denuvo activation. Is it noted on Steam before you buy the game, or only after it is purchased? https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2025/05/denuvo-will-lock-you-out-of-games-on-linux-steamos-steam-deck-if-you-keep-changing-proton-versions/

Yesterday I added controller support to Sumash, my Shamus (1982/3)-inspired game. Version 1.9 is available for Windows and Linux (tested on Xubuntu) on my itch site: HTTPS://chaslinux.itch.io/sumash

@silverwizard hope you feel better soon.

@silverwizard with up and down temperature swings compounding the effect of the flu.

@silverwizard other than the dirt on the Windows... I went to take the shot ground level, but completely blocked by buildings. It's sad, when I saw it, I thought of game parallaxing.

While waiting for an elevator this morning I looked out and saw this awesome foggy scene.

Anyone in Kitchener-Waterloo hiring a software developer? Someone I know is not having much luck and looking at their resume, they shouldn't be having so much difficulty. I see: Java, C#, Python, C, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, SQLite, MongoDB, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, Spring MVC, Vaadin, .NET, FastAPI, Processing, React, JUnit,
Mockito, Lombok, Checker Framework, JIRA, Bitbucket, Git, GitHub, Maven, Gradle, Postman, SonarQube, SourceTree, Selenium, Docker, AWS, a year of development with a solar monitoring company, and a handful or projects on github: https://github.com/EDemirsoz?tab=repositories Hoping to help this young person take the next step in their development journey.

@silverwizard @perloid @ghostdancer @hpr @AntennaPod @bobjonkman I used awk in my hardware detection script, but I had to look up how to use it and then experiment a bit... Sed and awk are both a bit mystical to us 'desktop users.' :) But still super handy for hacking together things.

Is anyone else having issues with openbenchmarking.org not resolving? #phoronixtestsuite

Movie-inspired video card themes were a thing. #retro

@silverwizard not a dive bar, but eons ago went to the El Macombo in the middle of the day and got a pitcher of beer that was at least 1/4 foam...and the beer was pretty brutal. Funny for a bar with such a good rating. Haven't been back since, then again it's been ages since I been in Toronto for more than a few hours.

The other day someone brought me this surface that was left at an apartment. It was tied to a tenant the landlord couldn't get a hold of anymore. The landlord passed it on to someone in need, who brought it to me. It's now getting a second life with #Ubuntu. Any suggestions for apps that would be useful on this tablet?

Computer Recycling you say, here, take this... I'm sure someone out there needs a projector.
