People complain that AI hallucinates, that it plain makes things up.

My job is to fix it.

Despite what you might think, I don't go tweaking the AI settings to make it tell the truth.

Nope. I tweak reality instead.

I hate to tell you this, but if the AI says you're dead, then you are dead.

And if you aren't?

Then it's my job to fix that.

@zens The ideal combination is some of both. But I do remember when the web started off as an almost pure tool for hosting and dessiminating information. The fact it was just engineering without design input definitely lead to many later issues.

But once established we went through a phase where designs were done by those with only a print background and marketing demanded we make them fit into an online format, regardless of the strictures and user needs.

@zens I'm personally a fan of minimalism with thinking, code and design. But I watch clients demand flashiness where every trivial piece of information fights for attention. And our front-end dev (design background) try to fight it, but also delight in creating the most complex code in order to make it happen (engineer side of them).

@liztai It's certainly not a uniquely Asian thing. In fact, it reminds me of the promoters of generative AI, built on ingesting the works of others.

@liztai What annoyed me was the disdainful attitude that "You are stupid wasting time creating your own thing. You should just copy someone else." Forgetting that someone has to put the time and effort into creating it in the first place.

It's very disheartening.

Woke up at 9 this morning. I also woke up at 1am after a nightmare about a miniature face changing stabby Terminator and couldn't go back to sleep until 4am, but the sleep in was nice.

Not sure whether to complain about Queenslanders who try to contact me at the end of the day because they've forgotten that were finish an hour ahead of them due to daylight savings, or to encourage them to do it so I can forget about it the next day.

Naturally, they'll contact you after (your) hours on the last day before they head off on leave!

I wonder whether Americans would find being called a Nazi or a National Socialist more insulting.

I'm sad to report that I am the victim of a conspiracy.

Every time I find a breakfast cereal that I like the manufacturer stops making it, the supermarket stops stocking it, the price is jacked up so high that I can't afford it or they vary the ingredients to add honey or sultanas.
