@simonwood @Edent one might assume even if they believed the bank was calling them, that they still need to confirm they got you and not someone else.

flabberghaster@mas.to's status on Sunday, 06-Aug-2023 21:00:13 JST flabberghaster @NoraReed It really sucks too because FOSS is a worthwhile thing, IMO, but like you said there's so many people who are in to it who haven't really thought about anything other than software. Makes me a little sad whenever I hear people say they hate FOSS due to the culture, but i've heard it from several people.

flabberghaster@mas.to's status on Thursday, 09-Feb-2023 23:41:53 JST flabberghaster @robinbrenizer @taylorlorenz @jimcarroll for a lot of people, twitter is still the best way to reach their audience and if they lose that they're kinda screwed. Takes time to build up alternate channels. I don't think most journalists can just up and quit twitter if they don't have to

flabberghaster@mas.to's status on Monday, 02-Jan-2023 22:05:22 JST flabberghaster The term web3 is so poisonous to me that I tune out whenever anyone says it. Proponents will say it's not all crypto but any other use case that falls within, I'm just left thinking either "this is what they said crypto specifically would do" or "this sounds like the stuff folks were saying the world wide web would do, in 1995."
I think the web peaked with bit torrent, and capital responded by trying to crush it, but people keep trying to introduce baroque versions of it again, but worse.

flabberghaster@mas.to's status on Wednesday, 28-Dec-2022 12:57:29 JST flabberghaster Ever since Clinton beat Bush in 92, corporate Democrats have used that as "proof" that tacking hard to the center to try to pick up "moderate Republican" votes, and that conventional wisdom hasn't changed since.
But they never mention that Clinton won a rare three way race with a huge spoiler candidate taking votes from the Republican. That election should be taken as an outlier, it seems to me. Meanwhile the dems have been systematically abandoning their old base, thinking they have no choice.

flabberghaster@mas.to's status on Saturday, 03-Dec-2022 09:47:42 JST flabberghaster I really really dislike golang. Or maybe I just really really dislike both the codebases of the teams I've been on that are written in golang.
Either way my golang experience has been abysmal.

flabberghaster@mas.to's status on Friday, 19-Aug-2022 06:17:46 JST flabberghaster In my opinion, friendship is generally good. If you have the choice between friendship and not, all things being equal, lean towards friendship.
