    @Hoss @BobsonDugnuttHB @Terry even then one of the design suggestions for M1A3 was to use a turbodiesel
    turbines kind of made sense for a certain really high performance niche back in the day, then the germans made the Leo 2 power pack and the heavy truck industry put a gorillion dollars into development decade after decade and eliminated that niche entirely

    @nugger tbh I think a lightweight electric car the size and general power of the original Honda crx (in fact make it look identical) loaded up with sodium ion batteries rather than lithium with like 120 miles range would make a great mass produced peoples car for them to handle day to day commuting and food buying. You'd still have a chance of getting crumpled like a tin can/ dying in an inferno but c'est la vie

    This is all a bandaid for not being able to have trains, because they would be full of socioeconomic factors
