Voxel Tycon looks pretty neat! I've been wondering who's going to come with the next interesting idea to replace OpenTTD. I find the UI pretty clean and easy to use, and they seem to have changed the formula by limiting demand in places that consume resources. Though I find it unfortunate that they went back to only using block signals, when OpenTTD's path-based signalling is much less messy.
An interesting fact from Philosophy Tube's latest video:
You can identify and fight discrimination without even having to define the discriminating factors (race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.) or label people with them. All that matters is that the discriminating person *thinks* that such a label would apply to the other person. (E.g. a straight person seen near a gay club can still be a victim of homophobia.)
Public transit timetables should be open data, published in an internationally standardised format.
That way, instead of each region having its own route planner, maintained separately and with varying quality, we could have a large choice of route planners (even offline ones) that work in a large region.
Usernames and other user-provided values should be directionally isolated from their surrounding inline text, if there is any. In HTML, this can be done with the <bdi> element.
Not only does this stop people messing with text direction using directional overrides (sorry for ruining your jokes), it also makes sure that an English sentence still ends on the right even when starting with an Arabic name.
The participants in the conversation (men and women) found the topic very amusing and used language that made people with micropenises sound like liabilities, like unavoidable risks where "you only know when it's too late".
I was completely silent because the only thing that I could think of saying "you are horrible people and should be ashamed of yourselves".
Mathematicians of fedi, do you use a language written from right to left?
I would like to know how you deal with mathematical terms that use left/right as part of a term: left identity, right ideal, left associativity, etc. Does left come first, does right come first, or do you just avoid this terminology entirely? Are there any problems when communicating with mathematicians who write from left to right?
I am a weeb weirdo who likes to dance.
