@lain Kind of like what happened here in Canada when they legalized "recreational" cannabis. A lot of people are buying and using it for medical purposes, which was already easy to do legally; the only real difference being that now you don't have to talk to a doctor first.
Okay, the Christmas cooking starts in earnest now. I'll eat the bacon as past of today's lunch but the main point here is to collect the grease for use with other things tomorrow.
Green bean casserole, prepped to be refrigerated overnight and cooked tomorrow. Many people in the USA consider this an absolutely essential holiday traditional dish, most often served at Thanksgiving; I haven't had it before (not my own family's tradition) and am trying it for the first time now.
The secret ingredients are soy sauce and packaged dry fried onions. It's interesting to think about in what sense that's a "secret," because literally everybody who cares to make this dish, knows.
Now far be it from me to comment on US presidential politics, but:
If the State of Colorado determines that a given candidate is ineligible to be on the ballots in Colorado, then isn't it a matter of States' Rights that the Federal Supreme Court can't override that decision?
I've been saying that we have had too many renamings recently, but this is one that might actually be a good idea. Though it would be even better if rejecting it became a reason for people to acknowledge that there have been too many renamings recently. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/could-rob-ford-soon-toronto-100000239.html
@lain All the usual disclaimers apply, but my ratio model says the only good buy in precious metals at the moment is platinum. It's been below both gold and palladium for several years, which is historically unusual. The platinum-palladium ratio seems highly likely to reverse soon (palladium should be cheaper on chemistry and abundance, has been more expensive recently, now is about equal); platinum-gold may take much longer if ever.
@Moon One of the conditions for me to be willing to pay for Twitter - not the only condition - would be that subscriptions would have to be instead of, not in addition to, ad revenue. If this means they are closer to the point where they'd have to really consider such a change, it may be a step forward.
