My first post here on Mastodon! So this is my #introduction. I'm so done with Twitter. Ugh. Anyway, I'm Bob, and I'm a photographer & a fine art framer living in Reno, Nevada (USA). I've been running Linux since the late '90s. I started with SuSE Linux 6.0 in 1998! All photos are mine & edited using Darktable on a Linux box. Here's a photo I made of Bonsai Rock, Lake Tahoe, Nevada in 2017. #linuxphotography
Bumper crop of Pinus edulis (two-needle piñon pine) nuts on Cedar Mesa this year! I saw lots of people out collecting on my October trip to the Four Corners region.

While doing some off-trail exploring in canyon country I came across this foil Happy Birthday balloon escapee. These balloons are awful when they decompose. They turn into millions of tiny foil flakes. I stuffed this one in my pocket, and now two weeks later, I'm still finding tiny foil flakes in my laundry. Please don't buy these balloons.

@mckra1g A seven hour meeting sounds like a six hour waste of productivity time to me. You earned the wine, if for no other reason than you didn't quit your job.
@DataGhost @tkinias @RnDanger @ingalls I'm not an Apple user, but noticing that wXL23 is FOSS at the Apple Store is fascinating. I thought everything in the Apple world was/is high dollar. Nice to learn there's some FOSS in the Apple space. :)
@ingalls Yes, just use NOAA, it's where the others get their data and forecasts. I never understood why people would use anything else. Oh, and it's ad free.
Nice pictograph from Utah's Four Corners region.

@michaelrussell @CStamp @alexskunz Rumor has it that Sony will introduce a Sony A1II, which, of course, will be more expensive than the current A1 at $6,500. The camera features hundreds, maybe even thousands of functions I'd never use since I shoot in manual 99 percent of the time. Once in a great while I'll use aperture priority (but it has been so long I've forgotten why I might have used it). I wish they'd make a camera optimized for still photographers.

Yesterday, I was out hunting petrogylphs along these basalt flows that border this ravine in the far NW corner of Washoe County, Nevada. I found a couple, but nothing spectacular. It was a beautiful day scrambling along the sides of this ravine! Unseen in the photo are numerous Antilocapra americana (pronghorns) on the distant pluvial lake playa. The yellow flowers in the ravine are Chrysothamnus humilis (rabbitbrush).

Busy photo! The two obvious features are the aurora & the lenticular clouds above the horizon. Near center above the clouds are two Perseid meteors. Moving right is the Milky Way bisecting the photo. The bright spot on the right above the clouds is Jupiter & above it is Mars. The Pleiades star cluster is above the planets. And the Andromeda galaxy is at top right. Oh, & the landscape, that's Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite.

@nerdpr0f @mattly @cR0w Didn't anybody bring up privacy? Had I been there I would have likely interrupted and said something like: "Shouldn't y'all be considering the kids privacy first? Talking about opt-in protocols instead of bemoaning the fact that you can treat kids like lab rats"?
@simon That's perfect!
