Half a year ago I tested the ActivityPub plugin on one of my personal WordPress sites, but then deactivated it. I added 410 redirects.

To this day, that site is getting inundated with requests by hundreds of Fediverse servers — for crap that's returned nothing but a 410 GONE for >6 months now. Will they ever give up?!

I'm pretty sure that no one ever thought about that. I use this site for the occasional test and my logs are total shit to look at because of this.

Another day, another surprised Windows user who realizes that his computer has been "infected" with OneDrive during an OS update, and that Microsoft has now snatched the contents of their user profile and stored them in the cloud. (including the "Pictures" folder with the Lightroom catalog of course, which is just completely bonkers.)

But apparently, Microsoft thinks that Windows isn't awful enough already, and just keeps the self-owns coming.

"Immaculate Seduction"

Marine layer drizzle on a freshly opened Datura wrightii (Sacred Datura, Jimsonweed, and many other common names) flower in our backyard.

This is a "manual depth of field stack" where I combined various exposures at 50mm focual length: one at f/1.4 for the background, one at f/16 for the center of the flower, and one at f/2.8 for a smoother transition.

When we have negative tides some strange and otherwise inaccessible parts of the immediate coast become temporarily accessible. These are the cliffs near the "sea caves" between La Jolla Shores and La Jolla Cove. The magenta color on the rocks comes from, as far as I know, algae.

There are accounts here too (as expected) that upload content which isn't theirs, and with rather poor attribution too (just a name but no backlink to the original, that sort of thing).

I'm not directly affected but as a photographer, I'm a bit dismayed to see this, and sensitive to it. Is there a general consensus/rule/policy about that? If it were to happen to me, is there a #DMCA process?
