@bunny_jane Not why the word "hallucinate" was used, a normal person would use the word "lie" in place of confabulate. The techbros chose "hallucinate" for the same reason they call LLMs "ai", to try to change the public perspective on it.

Saying "hallucinate" makes it feel like it's intelligent and self determinate.
