Does it work with other ActivityPub services that might also use location. Perhaps #Mobilizon or #FediHood?
I picture things such as grouping all photos of an event together, or discussions around the location of a photo.

@KittenKoder You have to manually add a location to each post, private or unlisted posts are not included, and we strip exif data.

@dansup Please tell me you at least learned something about social pressures and how a "feature" becomes a "necessity" just because of peer pressure. Look how people do the one security threat all the time now, posting their real photos and names online everywhere.
Do you realize how dangerous this one change is to the way people use social media? Now you're adding another one of the three don'ts.
1. Don't share photos of your face
2. Don't give real name.
3. Don't share your address.

@KittenKoder How do you balance that with people that want the ability to free form the location with their actual location?
I agree with you 100%, but our community wants this feature, perhaps we could implement a series of modals that warn of the dangers of this?
Would you mind helping fix this? I can drop this feature entirely, if there is enough feedback.

Is it stored as an id or as a lat/lon?
I've had problems finding my parents home town by searching, in that case it eould be nice to have an alternative, such as clicking on a map or directly entering a lat/lon (i.e. copy/pasting it from osm/gmaps).

@dansup Who wants the feature? Who specifically is asking for it? Have you even verified they're all human? Do you know if they have good intention?
Sometimes even something asked for should not be fulfilled, as an older geek I learned this lesson long ago. The vast majority of humans are stupid, so stupid they think LLMs are intelligent.
