Why not an integrated xmpp server, or extending one with the ability to use fediverse APIs for authentication?

I'm sure there is a bunch of technical reasons that I haven't thought of, don't take this as me saying you're wrong.

Is it stored as an id or as a lat/lon?

I've had problems finding my parents home town by searching, in that case it eould be nice to have an alternative, such as clicking on a map or directly entering a lat/lon (i.e. copy/pasting it from osm/gmaps).

No problem, banks are above the law. Didn't you notice?
